Healing and Restoration

At the Helm of His Garment
Read: Matthew 9 : 18 - 26
"If only I may  touched His garment, I shall be made well."
But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, 'Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well."

Healing and Restoration
All of us needs healing and restoration from time to time. We need healing on our external wounds, internal wounds and spiritual wounds. And after we have been healed, we may also require restoration on our life's glory and be replenish of the strength that we may need for our daily lives. Jesus can do both, all we have to do is seek Him and ask.

We can ask Jesus to come and work directly on our lives, or we can come and touched even the hem of His garment, either way He is willing and able to do both to heal and restore us.

In today's reading, we will see how Jesus can heal, restore and replenish us on the time we asked or seek of Him. He will not disappoint, but will willingly deliver.

Heal
No amount of healing from the best of the medical practitioner can heal the woman's bleeding. It has been 12 years, and still she bleeds. (v.20) She spent her fortune consulting every doctors, physician and other medical practitioner, money can buy, but still her bleeding won't stop (Luke 8:43). But when the opportunity came for her to see Jesus, she have thoroughly convinced herself that Jesus will and can heal Him, even if she manage to touched the helm of His garment (v.21).

From the moment she decided that Jesus can and will heal her, the healing have already started. I believe her touching of His garment's hem have nothing to do with her healing but rather her intense belief that Jesus can heal her.

We may be suffering from pain, hurt and anguish right now, all we have to do is come to Jesus and believe that He alone can heal us, no matter how long have we been hurting or in pain, He can and is willing to heal us from the scar of our wound.

Restore
Everyone has already mourned for the little girl, for everyone had clearly thought that the girl already died. But Jesus thinks otherwise, even if they scorned and does not believe, Jesus knew that the girl has not yet died but is alive and only sleeping (v.24).

We may have already given up on our lives, we may have already mourned that there has no more hope to survived, and clearly we may have thought there is no way we can come back. But Jesus thinks otherwise, if we are willing, even in the lowest moment of our lives, even at the point of death, Jesus can restore us and have us standing once again on our two little feet.

All we have to do is to have faith, even if it seems that all hope are gone, trust Jesus, have faith, in His marvelous time, He will restore us back to life. He will reach out, touch us and will lift us back to life.

Replenish
The good thing about Jesus restoring us back to life is that He will use someone to replenish us, so we can gain back our strength (Luke 8:55). He will equip us, strengthen us and provide for us when He restore us.

He will replenish our most basic needs to gain back the strength we will need to accomplish His purpose.  He will even use others to bless us, so we can start believing that Jesus never fails. He delivers.

Healing and Restoration
PERSONAL APPLICATION
No matter what we are suffering right now, we can have comfort that Jesus will heal us, restore us and replenish us , here are some practical suggestion how we can benefit from God's generous  provision, compassion and restoration:
  1. Believe - The woman despite her frustrations and disappointments on other means of healing, if there are one thing she knows, Jesus can heal her. She believes it so much that even at the helm of His garments, He can heal her.
  2. Trust - the ruler was told that his girl have already died and there is no more need to bother Jesus, but he have completely trusted Him, when He was told that only believe, and he trusted Jesus authority.
  3. Have faith - the woman's faith and the ruler's faith have all taken into consideration when Jesus heals and restores them.
